I have been honoured to work with people, both abroad as well as in South Africa. I am passionate about accompanying people on their journey towards personal growth. I believe in establishing an authentic, understanding and warm therapeutic relationship with my clients, optimising their psychological well-being and assisting them in achieving personal growth and. I focus on the individual and use different therapeutic models adapted to my client’s age and individual needs. I work with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. I am a bilingual Counselling Psychologist, providing therapy in English and Portuguese.

Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital, Johannesburg – South Africa

I completed a six month internship for my foreign degree qualification equivalence. I worked with children, their parents and with women of all ages. At this internship I was exposed to the South African cultural diversity and had the opportunity to work with cases such as those of relational difficulties (between parents, children and siblings), loss, post-partum depression, bereavement after perinatal death, HIV/AIDS, trauma, abuse and anxiety. I also provided play therapy and managed social skills groups for young children.


SEI – Centro de Desenvolvimento e Aprendizagem, in Carcavelos – Portugal

Here, I worked as an ABA Therapist. I was trained to use Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in the treatment of children diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorders. Most of these children had relocated from English speaking countries to Portugal, therefore therapy was conducted in English.


SCMA – Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Almada, in Almada – Portugal

Psychology was applied in the field of Social Gerontology with inpatients, outpatients, their families and caregivers. I offered psychological support at nursing homes, day centres and at dependant and frail elderly patient’s homes.


SPEP – Sociedade Promotora de Educação Popular, in Lisbon-Portugal

I initially worked with primary school children and their families. I was given the opportunity to work with children from different cultural backgrounds, such as children who had recently relocated to Portugal from Angola and Mozambique.
