I completed a six-month internship as part of my foreign degree qualification equivalence, where I worked with children, their parents, and women of all ages. This experience provided me with a deep understanding of South Africa’s cultural diversity and allowed me to work on cases involving relational difficulties, loss, post-partum depression, bereavement after perinatal death, HIV/AIDS, trauma, abuse, and anxiety. Additionally, I provided play therapy and facilitated social skills groups for young children.

I also worked as an ABA Therapist, where I was trained in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) to support children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Most of these children had recently relocated from English-speaking countries to Portugal, so therapy was conducted in English.

I applied psychology in the field of Social Gerontology, providing psychological support to inpatients, outpatients, their families, and caregivers. My work included offering therapy at nursing homes, day centres, and in the homes of dependent and frail elderly patients.
SPEP – Sociedade Promotora de Educação Popular, in Lisbon-Portugal
During my internship for my Licentiate degree, I worked with primary school children and their families, gaining valuable experience with children from diverse cultural backgrounds, including those who had recently relocated to Portugal from Angola and Mozambique.
